Before we get into this topic let’s see what the common understanding of something that is healthy means. For the majority it is the association with the potential to live longer. Yes, that is the one, but it is the last thing that comes to my mind. What is most important and beneficial is living fulfilled and achieving your full potential. To do that we have to take care of our body and mind. Mind is the place where everything starts. If we could isolate ourselves from everyday stress and negativity, everything would be easy. But that is not the way it goes. We have to deal with the real life problems and that puts a heavy load on our back. Learning how to manage stress in positive way through physical activity, good food, communication, all based on the choices we make everyday will lead us to higher state of mind as well as body in long term. So another segment is healthy body. Those two segments are always in correlation. Putting them together for one goal – well-being, that is our mission.

Few, of many, aspects of healthy lifestyle:

Proper food

In order to grow and repair cells our body depends mostly on a continuous supply of macro (protein, carbohydrates and fat) and micro (vitamins, minerals) nutrients on a daily basis. Part of healthy eating is actually proper quality and quantity of food. Cutting out “junk” food, highly processed, sugary and “bad” fat and adding on more fresh vegetables and fruits, lean meats and fish, nuts and seeds is the first step to better eating.

Organized physical activity

Human body was created to move. Staying active will help you to achieve and maintain healthy weight, improve mood and feel much better both physically and mentally. Decreased risk of diseases, such as cardiovascular, diabetes and cancer are just few of many benefits. Other important benefits of physical training are:

  • Improved immune system
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Higher bones density and joints health and function
  • Improved aerobic and anaerobic capacity
  • Regulation of blood sugar and excess body fat
  • Increased flexibility and motoric functions

Organized physical activity follows body natural need to be in constant motion and structured exercise plan for maximized success.

Sleep quality

The most important fact about sleep is that body’s self-repair on all levels takes place during deep sleep as well as memory consolidation. Seven to nine hours of continuous sleep during night is recommended.

Stress management

With good nutrition, physical training and sleeping habits we are doing a big favor to ourselves in order to feel happy and satisfied as well, and one of the reasons is the release of hormones that cause that feeling of happiness, so we are doing good for both, body and mind. Other part of stress management is positive attitude, positive thinking. Focusing on positive things, such as spending more time with people we love, reading, meditating, and doing activities that make us feel good.

To start the process, we just have to make one change at a time, one positive thing every day will end up as a lifetime change for better quality of everything we are.

In the end, we can only regret to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which we are capable.
